GAPIO: PLATFORM FOR ALL INDIAN PHYSICIANS AROUND THE WORLD TO COME TOGETHER

New Delhi, January 2011: With the desire to unite the physicians of Indian origin around the globe together on one platform, the World Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) today organized the first press conference, with the vision of improving health around the world.



 The conference was addressed by the Executive Committee GAPIO including Dr. Reddy Prathap C, President of the society (Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group is), Dr. Rao Sanku, Vice-President (consultant gastroenterologist, USA), Dr Ramesh Mehta, Secretary-General (consultant Pediatrician, UK ), together with other well-known names from the Indian and global health.


It is estimated that there are 1.2 million physicians of Indian origin working not only in India but also in many countries around the world. This strong diaspora of Indian doctors need a common professional platform. There is a need for greater transparency and cohesion of these physicians. It is with these objectives that the society, the World Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) was formed.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prathap C Reddy, president GAPIO, said, â € œEnvisioned as the Indian Association for Medical Diaspora Medical Diaspora, for the cause of global health, GAPIO has a vision of improving health in the world. It's time for Indian doctor to influence not only on the health of individuals and communities, but global health.

There are a lot of doctors of Indian origin working globally, which have their roots in India. Their combined intellectual and technical potential can be a vital force in the development of the Indian healthcare sector. â € œIndian doctors both in India and abroad to excel in their fields and have a passion to provide quality care. GAPIO bring their collective power on a single platform to help shape health care in underserved areas and to work towards quality healthcare for all, particularly in India, said Dr € Sanku Rao â € "Vice President, GAPIO.
